Celebration:
Since, Chhat parna or saptami of kartik shukla , Maithil sisters start to make the clay idols of Sama Chakeba, the villain Chugila and Vridavan .In the evening, they regularly meet on the streets to sing ,dance and enjoy the festivity. The sisters recite the poems ( popularly called ‘Phakara’)in the memory of Sama,Chakeba and the brothers love and pray for their long life and prosperities. It is said, that on the day Ekadashi itself, the vidai of Sama is fixed & scheduled to Kartik Purnima. Hence ,devotthan ekadashi onward, sisters start the decoration ,colouring and putting all the cloths made for all the characters ;Sama, Chakeba and Chugila similar to their thoughtful resemblance. ..By kartik purnima, they complete their preparation of ‘Vidai’ with all the symbolic household materials as gifts. On the Kartik Purnima, sisters start the vidai with singing ,dancing along the way to nearby cultivated land (jutalaha khet) taking all the decorated idols in Basket (dali). The brothers give the company and enhance the joyous aura to the function up to farm/khet. Brothers split the idols putting on their knees and is immersed/hidden in to the cultivated soil ie.Bhasauin . The sisters give sweets to their brothers and pray for their brother's long life .This has a bit ‘ Sarokar ‘to you and to us. Happy Sama-Chakeba. Jai Maithili , Jai Mithila.
